Our head office is located in Rotterdam, Europe’s biggest port and one of the Netherlands’ most innovative cities. Our locations Castelo Branco and Coimbra are an extension of our Global IT department in Rotterdam. What do we expect from you as a Medior OutSystems Developer?

  • +2 years of experience with OutSystems;
  • Solid knowledge of software engineering principles, algorithms, and data structures;
  • Knowledge of the OutSystems platform, its components, and architecture;
  • Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases;
  • Hands-on in JavaScript and CSS customization;
  • Ability to do basic data modeling and enforce proper referential integrity constraints;
  • Proficiency with debugging and unit Testing.

What are the responsibilities?

Your business card will read Agile Software Developer or Engineer. As part of a scrum team, surrounded by other OutSystems experts, you will develop and manage applications on the OutSystems PaaS platform. You will take on the role of Developer or Engineer in a DevOps team that is responsible for designing, implementing, releasing, deploying and configuring innovative applications within the Agile DevOps teams. Incrementally and iteratively develops and tests solutions in close cooperation with the product owner, the scrum master, the analyst, the product owner and the other teams.

Agile development includes:

  • Build and evolve applications that run terminals and their operations, helping prepare Vopak for the future of product storage
  • implementation and use of highly automated processes
  • Creation, implementation and use of automated tools for deployments
  • implementation and use of automated tools for testing
  • creation of the appropriate User experience according to the guidelines
  • building resilience in the solutions; continuously stress test the processes and architectures for improved resiliency
  • operational: upgrades, backups, monitoring, disaster recovery, capacity planning, performance checks of the solutions

Vopak is a relatively flat organization; the atmosphere is pleasant and informal but expects a lot of responsibility. The Product Owner will give you the directions, but you will be the owner of your projects.

Our DevOps teams (In the Netherlands and Portugal) do not spend all of their time at their desks, and neither will you. Expect to work closely with users of our applications: customer services, terminal operators and even captains.
