"(Y/n)." You heard someone called you, and you saw your senior, Tanjiro. You quickly put your sword aside and a smile decorated your lips.
"Yes, Tanjiro-san ?" you faced him properly, and you noticed his face was not the usual look. He had a tight face as if he had something in his mind regarding you.
"Someone told me you befriended a demon." You instantly felt your throat so dry. Tanjiro was the top Fire Pillar and you already feel your hands run cold.
"W-What ? No way.." you tucked your hair behind your ear and Tanjiro noticed that. Plus, he could smell the scent from you who was lying.
"Kill him before all of us hunt the demon down." Tanjiro spat mercilessly and you gulped down.
You need to tell Zenitsu soon.
You walked down the dark path where Zenitsu home was. You reached his home and entered like you usually do, and you heard a groan coming from the inside. You almost lost your breath and saw Zenitsu sprawling on the tatami mat.
"Zenitsu ?" you tried to get to his side but he stopped you.
"No, don't." He said, and you respected his request. You let him pick himself up and you noticed sweats forming on his temple and his irregular breathing that caused his chest to go up and down.
"What happened ?" You asked, but he just answered you with a wave saying he was okay. Of course you won't believe him, but you did not want to pressure him.
Slowly, you went to his side and wrapped your arms around him to help him to his futon that laid in the middle of the room. As soon as you did so, you heard his breath stop immediately. You gazed down, worried and confused, and you saw him turning around towards your exposed neck. There, you saw his iris dilated and a hiss of hunger coming out of his mouth.
You were also losing your breath when you felt his hot breath hitting your neck, the thought of him going to bite down your neck completely out of your head.
Suddenly, he pushed you to the floor and you heard him running to the front door.
"Zenitsu !" You called for him and he was already gone. You did not have a chance to tell him about it and you were scared if he stumbled to any Demon Slayer while being outside.
You went home and decided to come tomorrow. However, you should think deeper of what Tanjiro told you. Tanjiro had sent someone to stalk you yesterday and of course they saw you did not kill Zenitsu.
"Senpai !" You called Inosuke who was drinking some water. He noticed how restless you look and he got worried, placing the cup to the table.
"Where's Tanjiro-senpai and his team ?" You asked Inosuke and he told you where he went. You gasped as you were far behind and began to ran, hoping you would reach Zenitsu before them.
You held your sword tightly on your waist, praying that nothing would happen to Zenitsu. He did not have enough strength to fight several demon slayers at a same time, especially when it was Tanjiro.
You knew Tanjiro had seen you as his little sister. However, you want to love too.
You sheathed your sword and parried Tanjiro's attack which almost landed on Zenitsu. You yelped as you lost the grip at your sword at the huge blow, while Tanjiro leaped to the back for pre-cautiouns. He just realized it was you who stopped his attack and his frowned.
"(Y/n) !" He called you, and you gave him an apologize look before you turned at Zenitsu who was climbing over a rock. You looked up to him, tears already lining down your cheeks.
"I'm sorry, Zenitsu." You apologized. Zenitsu smiled at you as he cupped your cheek, wiping the tears with his thumb.
"It looks like we need to depart." he said, and you held his wrist with a fresh set of tears coming down again.
"I love you, Zenitsu." You confessed, and his eyes widened, his jaw clenched. It looks like he had a hard time, but he smiled again.
He leaned down and and your eyes closed as he peck your lips. You looked up to him as he kept smiling.
"Just a peck ?" you asked.
"Just a peck." he chuckled before letting you go and stood up.
"Goodbye, (Y/n)." He said for the last time before continue to run away. You closed your mouth trying to conceal your cries, but it seems like everyone will watch how you broke down to the ground. Everyone could hear thunder connecting one after another as you continued crying on the ground with your sword not far from you.
You felt hands cupping your shoulders and comforted you with some gentle squeezes. You knew it was Tanjiro, and you hugged him.
"I'm sorry, (Y/n), but this world is different. You can't fall in love with him." You cried louder as it was the truth. Tanjiro was just trying to help you. You knew it was impossible to love a demon, but Zenitsu was different.
