Do all Labcorp locations take walk ins? ›

While appointments are encouraged, walk-ins are welcome. *Not all locations offer all services. Note: Some centers offer COVID-19 PCR testing for those who are symptom-free and have not been exposed to COVID-19.

Processing and Results

Depending on the complexity of the test being performed, it could take a few hours or as long as several days before your results are reported to your doctor. You may access your lab results in the Labcorp patient portal after they have been reported to your doctor.

Are appointments required? Appointments are not required but may help reduce your patient's wait time. Our locations are generally busiest from opening until 10:00 AM. If withholding food and/or beverages prior to the test is not required, you may wish to schedule an appointment during off-peak hours.

Testing Process

Results for specimens that screen negative for all drugs are generally available within 48 to 72 hours after specimens are received at the laboratory. Results for confirmation testing of presumptive positive screens are usually available within an additional 72 hours.

For the purpose of understanding if there is any quality difference between Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp, the answer is no, they both use the highest quality standards and machines.

You usually need to fast for 8 to 12 hours before a test, but your provider will tell you exactly how long to fast. For certain tests, you may be asked not to drink alcohol for a longer period of time. If your blood test requires fasting, you can usually schedule the test early in the morning.

Lab results are delivered to your Labcorp Patient™ portal account.

In most cases, lab test results delivery times should not exceed two weeks. The most common reason for delay in receiving results is inaccurate or out-of-date personal information on record with your health care providers or in your Labcorp Patient™​ portal personal profile.

Results are delivered to your Labcorp Patient™ account at the same time they are reported to your healthcare provider (unless state or federal laws restrict timing of delivery). Note that some results, such as employee drug screening, are not available in Labcorp Patient.

Often it needs to be done first thing in the morning when you likely have a bunch of other things going on. There are some things you can do and avoid to make sure your blood test results are reliable and we as your doctors can interpret the results and therefore, give you the best advice.

Currently the average time to deliver results is 1-2 days from when your sample is received at the lab. Our labs process samples seven days a week.

Labcorp's certified laboratories provide mass spectrometry confirmation for non-negative rapid test drug screens. Mass spectrometry confirmation results are typically available within 48-72 hours after the specimen is received in the laboratory.

Standing Orders: These tests are those that your health care provider wants you to complete on a regular basis, or as needed (also known as PRN). If you see the words “Interval” or “Remaining”, this means that it is a standing order. #4 (Refer to Screen Shot on page 1) is an example of another standing order.

It depends on the test. Some tests, like the lipid panel, require a 12-14 hour fasting period. When fasting is required, only black coffee (no cream or sweetener) and water are permitted. Some tests have other special instructions, which are noted on the description of each test.
